OUR HOTEL

Hôtel Diderot is a charming, family-run, 27-room boutique-hotel designed like a large family home and located in the heart of old Chinon's canonial quarter. Nested in a tree-lined garden, and a stone’s throw from the town center, its shops, and its restaurants, our hotel welcomes you year-round in Chinon, for pleasure or for business. Jamie and Jean-Pierre are the 4th family to run Hôtel Diderot since it was created in the early 1960's. The hotel occupies a 15th-18th century complex which once housed the property tax offices of the Chinon district. The Logis is a vast Touraine-style tufa stone residence topped with blue slate roofs. Its history entwined with that of Saint-Mexme's collegiate church, whose prelates it housed until the French revolution. A Pavilion, located in the garden, and an Annex, separate from the hotel, complete the complex. In winter, you can enjoy a breakfast made with fresh, local, artisanal products, in front of a roaring fire. In summer, you can relax in the rose-filled garden and terraces. You can have a snack and taste our local, farm-prepared dishes, a drink at the bar, and sample our selection of Chinon wines.
